Fall 2022

Objective

The purpose of this project was to design a spring pallet loader with the following design requirements:

  • Maximum (unfactored) load of 1,000 lbs

  • Spring stiffness to be adjustable through air-springs

  • Weight: Less than 50 lbs (if possible)

  • Raised Height: 30 inches

  • Lowered Height: 10 inches

  • Base and Platform Size: 25x25 inches

  • Production Cost: < $500 (if possible)

  • Platform does not need to rotate

  • Aluminum tubes

  • Aluminum plate

  • Aluminum square bars

  • Aluminum rectangular bars

  • Air cylinder

  • Dry run sleeve bearings 

  • C clip

  • Aluminum sheets

  • Pneumatic air cylinder

  • Finite Element Analyses results
